San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) formalized its partnership with the National Voluntary Blood Services Program of Muntinlupa through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on July 9, 2026. The partnership will support the College’s flagship blood donation initiative, the “Sanduguan Project: Red Lions Blood” (Bedans Lifeline Offering of Donors).
The agreement was signed by Rev. Fr. Gerardo Ma. De Villa, OSB, Rector, together with representatives from the Muntinlupa City Health Office led by Dr. Avegail Bartolome-Barreda. Through the partnership, SBCA and the city’s health authorities will work together to promote voluntary blood donation and support the local blood supply.
The Sanduguan Project brings together students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni in regular blood donation activities. It seeks to encourage more members of the Bedan community to become voluntary donors while making blood available to individuals who may need it, both within and beyond the SBCA community.
Under the MOA, SBCA, through its Community Extension Unit and partner offices, will coordinate donor recruitment, provide venues, and promote the bloodletting activities through institutional channels. The Muntinlupa Voluntary Blood Services Program will provide medical teams and equipment, oversee health and safety requirements, and handle the processing, storage, and allocation of the collected blood.
The partnership also includes efforts to raise awareness about voluntary blood donation and help participants better understand the process. Through coordinated bloodletting activities, the two parties hope to encourage more people to become regular donors and contribute to the community’s blood supply.
The agreement will remain in effect for three academic years. It provides a framework for continued cooperation between SBCA and the Muntinlupa Voluntary Blood Services Program in responding to community health needs.
Rooted in the Benedictine spirit of Ora et Labora—prayer and work—the Sanduguan Project gives the Bedan community a practical way to put service into action. Every blood donation is a simple act of generosity that can make a real difference to someone in need.
Through Sanduguan, Bedans are reminded that sometimes, service begins with something as simple as giving a part of oneself so that another person may have the chance to live.
