(Ethel Monique Domingo) Demonstrating academic strength and steadfast commitment to Bedan formation, the San Beda College Alabang–School of Law (SBCA-SOL) emerged as one of the country’s top-performing law schools in the 2025 Bar Examinations. The School ranked fifth nationwide among institutions with more than 100 first-time examinees, posting a 69.91% passing rate in this category and a 58.45% overall passing rate — notably surpassing the national passing average.
This achievement translates to two hundred thirty-five (235) new Bedan lawyers, marking another milestone in the School of Law’s enduring mission to form competent, principled, and service-oriented members of the legal profession. Beyond the numbers, the results affirm the School’s sustained tradition of academic rigor, discipline, and holistic formation grounded in Benedictine values.
In thanksgiving for this collective success, the SBCA Centralized Bar Operations (CBO) organized a Thanksgiving Mass and Testimonial Dinner honoring the new lawyers and the community that supported them throughout their Bar journey. The celebration brought together faculty members, administrators, mentors, families, and friends who journeyed with the graduates from the months of review to the long-awaited release of results.
The celebration began with a solemn Eucharistic gathering at the St. Benedict Chapel, where the new Bedan lawyers offered prayers of gratitude for the strength, perseverance, and grace that sustained them through the rigors of preparation. Anchored in faith, the liturgy highlighted the Benedictine spirit that continues to guide the formation of Bedan law students.
The evening continued at the Football Field for a testimonial program and bonfire ceremony — a symbolic moment of renewal, unity, and triumph. Aptly named “Lumina,” the batch embraced a title that reflects its journey: light breaking through after seasons of sacrifice, discipline, and hope.
In his testimonial, Bar passer and former CBO Chairperson Samuel Joshua Cruz expressed deep gratitude for his Bedan formation. He emphasized that the true legacy of the School of Law is not measured solely by the number of passers, but by the character and integrity it helps form in its students.
Dean Ulan Sarmiento, in his message to the new lawyers, reminded the graduates to honor the people who stood behind their success. “They don’t require you to pay back; rather, they demand you to pay it forward,” he said, urging the graduates to serve with integrity and compassion as they enter the legal profession.
While the School’s performance in the Bar Examinations stands as a source of institutional pride, the celebration also honored the quieter stories behind each success — prayers whispered in moments of doubt, long nights of study marked by sacrifice, and the unwavering faith that sustained each candidate. The bonfire gathering captured this shared victory, transforming months of uncertainty into an evening of gratitude, reflection, and joy.
