With hearts full of compassion and a mission anchored in love, the Bedan community extended healing and hope to the indigenous Mangyan community in Pola, Oriental Mindoro through a medical and dental outreach program held at Calatagan IP Elementary School.
From remote mountain paths to the mission site, families—young and old—made their way in search of care and compassion. Among them were an 82-year-old elder and a 4-month-old infant, symbolizing the resilience and spirit of the community that welcomed this mission with open hearts.
Spearheaded by devoted Bedan parents, alumni, school staff, and volunteer medical and dental professionals, the outreach brought much-needed services to those who have less in life but possess immeasurable strength. The program offered medical consultations, minor surgical procedures, dental care, and heartfelt interactions that lifted spirits and restored hope.
Special recognition goes to Dr. Gee and Dr. Harry, together with the dedicated healthcare team, for their expertise and selfless service. Their healing hands were matched by the comforting support of culinary expert and Bedan parent, Sir Byron, and his student volunteers, who nourished participants and volunteers alike with warm, home-cooked meals prepared with care.
The mission also saw the active involvement of various Bedan sectors—the ICIC, THS and IBED Parents-Teachers Councils, along with volunteers from housekeeping, motor pool, and the security agency. Their collective effort exemplified the Bedan spirit of selfless service, embodying the school’s core values beyond the campus grounds.
This initiative was not just an act of charity—it was a living testament to solidarity and community. Every healing touch, every reassuring smile, and every quiet prayer became a symbol of hope and humanity.
“To serve with love is to heal not just bodies, but hearts,” shared one of the volunteers. “This mission reminded us of the profound joy found in giving.”
As the mission drew to a close, the gratitude in the eyes of the people of Pola echoed louder than words. The Bedan community, in turn, walked away richer in spirit and inspired by the strength and warmth of the people they served.
Indeed, this mission of love stands as a beacon of what it truly means to live out the Bedan motto: Ut in omnibus glorificetur Deus — That in all things, God may be glorified.
