By Em Endo (IV-BACMS)
San Beda College Alabang once again opened the year with vibrant faith and festivity during the Pista ng Sto. Niño 2025, held from January 16 to 18 and hosted by the School of Law (SOL). With the theme “Ang Gabay sa Paglalakbay,” this year’s celebration honored the enduring devotion to the Sto. Niño—an integral part of Bedan culture and tradition.
Leading the festivities was this year’s Hermano Mayor, SOL Dean Ulpiano “Ulan” Sarmiento III, whose presence and leadership underscored the spiritual and cultural importance of the event.
A Solemn Beginning
The celebration commenced with the 8th day of the Novena Mass at the St. Benedict Chapel, presided over by Fr. Rembert Tumbali, OSB. The Mass set the tone for the three-day celebration, calling on the guidance of the Sto. Niño for the Bedan community’s journey ahead.
Following the liturgy was the Enthronement Ceremony, a solemn tradition paired with the spirited performance of “Sampit sa Señor” by the Technical High School (THS), blending reverence with cultural expression.
Showcasing the Bedan Talent
The excitement carried over to the Fr. Bellarmine Baltazar Gymnasium, where Senior High School students brought the Sinulog Festival to life. Competing strands—STEM, HUMSS, and ABM—presented visually stunning and spiritually moving performances that demonstrated their faith, creativity, and team spirit.
For the fourth consecutive year, the STEM strand was declared Sinulog Champion 2025, defending their title with an electrifying and heartfelt performance. HUMSS secured 1st Runner-Up, while ABM earned 2nd Runner-Up honors.
The day concluded with the Community Agape, a beloved tradition that gathered students from the tertiary schools behind the St. Bede Building for an evening of fellowship and shared joy.
On the second day, the spotlight turned to IBED K–10 students who lit up the gym during the Batch Cheer Dance Competition. With choreography inspired by P-pop, the students delivered high-energy routines full of color and creativity.
Grade 8’s “Octaverse” once again dominated, earning the title of Champion along with all special awards: Best Cheer Dance Attire, Best Batch Spirit, and Best Cheer Dancer. Grade 10 followed as First Runner-Up, while Grades 7 and 9 secured second and third place respectively.
That evening, the spotlight shifted to elegance and poise during the Mr. and Ms. San Beda pageant, held at the SBCA football field. Representatives from Legal Management and Marketing Management were crowned, embodying the intelligence, confidence, and charisma of Bedan tertiary students.
Grand Finale
The final day of the Pista saw the community come together in prayer with a procession and closing Mass, reinforcing the values of faith and gratitude at the heart of the celebration.
The night culminated in a grand concert at the football field featuring student performers and special guest bands Trails of Orange Peels, CHNDTR, and Over October. The sound of music, laughter, and cheers echoed as fireworks lit up the night sky—ending the three-day celebration on a high and heartwarming note.
A Celebration to Remember
The Pista ng Sto. Niño 2025 was more than a celebration—it was a powerful reminder of the strength of Bedan unity, the richness of tradition, and the enduring importance of faith. Rooted in devotion and uplifted by the community’s energy, this year’s Pista carved yet another memorable chapter in the continuing journey of Bedan heritage.
