(By Ms. Joan Teoxon) On November 4–6, 2025, San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) proudly participated in EDUtech Asia 2025, held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore. The event gathered school leaders, administrators, policymakers, and technology experts from across the globe, all united by a common goal: transforming education through innovation. With more than 8,000 participants, over 350 speakers, and 260+ sponsors, exhibitors, and startups, the three-day conference served as a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas, exploring emerging technologies, and discussing practical strategies to enhance teaching and learning in the digital age.
Representing SBCA was Engr. Ma. Lea A. Martinez, Head of Educational Technology Services, whose participation underscored the institution’s strong commitment to educational innovation. Her presence at the conference demonstrated SBCA’s proactive role in embracing digital transformation and engaging in global conversations on the future of education.
On the second day of the conference, Engr. Martinez took part in a panel discussion titled “The Role of Academic Leadership in Driving Pedagogical Innovation.” She joined esteemed education leaders, including Dr. Warid Mihat of Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia) and Mr. Ryan Lufkin, Vice President of Global Academic Strategy at Instructure (Canvas, US). The session was moderated by Mr. Wong Poh Seng, Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning Development at Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore.
During the discussion, Engr. Martinez emphasized the vital role of academic leadership in fostering a culture of innovation within institutions. She shared how SBCA empowers faculty members through continuous training, strategic digital adoption, and strong administrative support. By aligning technology initiatives with institutional goals, SBCA ensures that digital tools are not merely supplementary but transformative in enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes. She also highlighted the institution’s collaborative approach, where administrators, faculty, and support service teams work together to design learner-centered digital environments.
Notably, SBCA’s journey with EDUtech Asia began in 2024, when Engr. Martinez first participated as a Show-and-Tell Stage Speaker, presenting SBCA’s edtech best practices. That milestone marked SBCA’s entry into a respected regional platform, proudly placing its name and logo alongside those of Asia’s leading colleges and universities.
Through its continued participation in global conferences such as EDUtech Asia, San Beda College Alabang reaffirms its commitment to excellence. By sharing Bedan best practices with the international community, SBCA strengthens its mission to deliver quality, future-ready education in an increasingly digital world.
