Bedan Innovators Shine on National Stage, Earn International Slot
San Beda College Alabang once again proved its strength in innovation and robotics as its delegates swept major awards at the 11th Philippine Robothon, held at the University of San Agustin – Extension Campus on February 7, 2026.
Competing under the Innovative Open Category (IOC), Bedan teams emerged as champions in both the Junior and Senior divisions, continuing the school’s dominant streak in the national robotics scene.
Junior Division Triumph: Team YEY
Team YEY, composed of Grade 9 students Erich Cresencio, Ambriel Octavio, Jillian Olya-On, and Emerald Clerigo, clinched the Junior IOC Championship with their project AIDALERT—an upgraded disaster-readiness go-bag and first aid system equipped with a GPS tracker, alert system, pulse monitoring sensor, and an LCD information display.
According to team leader Erich Cresencio, the group had to rethink their entire concept when they learned that the national competition would follow age-based themes.
“Our old proposal didn’t match the junior theme on disaster readiness, so we had to start from scratch… I’m glad we were given the chance to branch out and create something new like this—it led to an experience and a win we could’ve never expected.”
Their adaptability and technical creativity paid off, elevating their previous distinction finish in Jakarta to a national championship.
Senior Division Excellence: Projects PALAD and PARAW
In the Senior IOC Division, Project PALAD continued its winning streak by securing the championship title. The team, composed of Grade 12 students Andrew Alangcao, Ben Singanon, Irah Casil, and Dane Justiniano, marked their fourth consecutive victory since the start of their competition season last December—an impressive testament to consistency and innovation.
Meanwhile, Project PARAW 2.0, presented by Grade 11 students Kyra Shresta, Oceana Nebre, Rian Recaña, and Cyrus Aduana, earned a Distinction Award in the same category, adding another accolade to the Bedan robotics roster.
Middle School Victory
San Beda’s success extended to younger innovators as three Middle School delegates from Grades 7–8 captured the Middle Category Championship in the Mini Robot Challenge, further highlighting the depth of the school’s robotics program across levels.
Overall Championship and International Stage
Following the outstanding performance of its IOC delegates, San Beda College Alabang was named Overall Champion in the Innovative Open Category. This prestigious recognition earned the school the honor of representing the Philippines at the BETT Asia International competition in Kuala Lumpur on September 23–24, 2026.
Three student delegates and one coach will carry the Philippine flag in the international event, with participation personally sponsored by First Eduspec Inc..
The victory underscores San Beda College Alabang’s continuing commitment to excellence in science, technology, and innovation—forming Bedan learners who are not only competitive but also solutions-driven in addressing real-world challenges.
