MUNTINLUPA CITY, March 10,2026 — San Beda College Alabang welcomed leaders from Taiwan’s Providence University and Macau’s University of St. Joseph on March 6 for a significant academic visit highlighted by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to strengthen international collaboration in Catholic higher education.
The visiting delegation included Providence University President Dr. Lucia Shih-Ling Lin, Director of Academic Exchange Affairs Dr. Kelly Chiu, and University of St. Joseph representative Dr. Rochelle Gu. They were formally received by administrators and faculty members at the college boardroom.
In his welcome message, Fr. Gerardo Ma. De Villa, OSB, Rector of San Beda College Alabang, emphasized the shared Catholic mission of the institutions.
“Through education, we will further promote our respective universities’ ethos—bringing the light of knowledge and virtue to the world,” Fr. De Villa said.
The program proceeded with the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement, which establishes a framework for future academic collaboration among the partner institutions. The agreement is expected to support initiatives such as student exchange programs, joint faculty research, and other international academic opportunities that will benefit the academic communities of the participating universities.
Dr. Lin also shared her vision for the partnership, expressing hope that the collaboration would translate into concrete programs that strengthen global academic engagement.
“Our goal is to transform our shared vision into meaningful action through student exchanges, collaborative research, and international academic programs,” she said.
Following the signing ceremony, the delegation participated in a guided campus tour that concluded at the San Beda College Alabang museum. The visitors viewed exhibits featuring medieval Filipino religious art and a special display commemorating the centennial of the Benedictine Abbey Church in Manila, offering a glimpse into the rich Benedictine heritage that shapes the Bedan educational tradition.
The visit continued on March 7 as Dr. Lin served as the keynote speaker at the Second International Faculty Research Conference, hosted by San Beda College Alabang in partnership with the Consortium of the South’s Research Committee. Her keynote address, titled “Ethical Leadership in Education: Navigating Challenges and Shaping Strategic Solutions,” encouraged educators and researchers to pursue ethical leadership and innovative solutions in the face of contemporary educational challenges.
The partnership marks another step in San Beda College Alabang’s commitment to strengthening international collaboration and expanding its global network of Catholic educational institutions.
