COUNSELING & CAREER DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

The Counseling & Career Development Services is dynamic, responsive, and committed to the holistic development of the students of San Beda College Alabang. Likewise, it is guided and inspired by the Benedictine ideals of prayer, work, and peace.

The Office helps individuals actualize their God-given potentials to become mature Catholic Christians. It aims to optimize learning by supporting the creation and maintenance of a climate that is most conducive to it, as inspired by Filipino and Benedictine ideals and values. It further encourages students to become increasingly self-directing and eventually lead others to share in that life through their positive examples.

The Office seeks to assist the institution in its educational commitment by providing opportunities to enhance students’ total development in light of its mission, goals, and objectives. As Catholic Christians, the counselors are committed to faith in human dignity and work and adhere at all times to Christ’s teachings. Counselors are role models and examples of love and sincere concern for others. Therefore, the Counseling & Career Development Services exists to meet the following objectives:

To help students identify their own strengths and weaknesses and assume responsibility for self-improvement

To provide the student with career guidance by which students can explore a possible career path, reinforce career decisions and develop career plans

To facilitate adjustment for all students as well as prepare them for the next level of learning

To help students clarify and understand issues and problems affecting them and facilitate adjustments to themselves, to others, and their home and school environments

To systematically gather, collect and disseminate all pertinent information for a better understanding of the students

To undertake necessary evaluation and studies as a basis for program development or needed intervention

To provide opportunities for self-expression, sharing and learning through process-oriented activities that promote desirable goals, attitudes, values and habits geared towards growth and development

To encourage support and cooperation from stakeholders in meeting the needs of students

To initiate and conduct seminar-workshops or training designed to equip stakeholders with skills and attitudes required for their respective roles and responsibilities

To help students gain awareness of others and develop positive attitudes and interpersonal skills
