We celebrate this feast day with joy because Mary plays a unique and essential role in salvation history. Her birth marks the beginning of the fulfillment of God’s plan to bring Christ into the world. Just as Jesus’ birth brought salvation, Mary’s birth is seen as the first step toward that salvation. She was chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus Christ, the Redeemer, and thus her birth signifies hope, grace, and the dawn of a new era for humanity.
The joy of this celebration is rooted in the recognition of Mary’s humility, purity, and her crucial role in the Incarnation. We honor her as a model of faith and obedience, and her birthday reminds us of the virtues she exemplifies.

Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose birth we celebrate with joy.
Through her, You prepared the way for our Savior, Jesus Christ.
We praise You for her purity, faith, and humble obedience to Your will.
May her example inspire us to follow You with open hearts,
and may her intercession bring us closer to Your grace.
On this day, we honor her with love and gratitude,
and ask that, like her, we may always say “yes” to Your plan for our lives.
