The Jubilee is a special Year of Grace celebrated every 25 years, aimed at reconciling the Catholic faithful with God by restoring their State of Grace and removing temporal punishment for sin. This is done through the Jubilee Indulgence, which involves:

The term “Jubilee” comes from the Hebrew word yobel or “ram’s horn”
, blown to announce the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) and every 50 years to mark a Jubilee. It was a time to reconcile with God through atonement and with others by forgiving debts and freeing captives
(cf. Leviticus 25:8-13).

In 1300, Pope Boniface VIII established the Jubilee Year for the Catholic Church, initially celebrated every 100 years. Later, Pope Clement VI reduced it to 50 years, and in 1470, Pope Paul II set the current 25-year cycle.
