School of Law

OVERVIEW OF THE SCHOOL OF LAW

The idea of offering another law program outside of San Beda College Mendiola (now San Beda University Mendiola) had long been envisioned by the administration. To offer a law program in another Benedictine school came into being when the enrollees in San Beda College Mendiola – College of Law dramatically increased, making it difficult for the administration to contain the population. Armed with the vision of offering the same Benedictine quality legal education in the southern Metro Manila, Rev. Fr. Anscar J. Chupungco, OSB, suggested that the San Beda College Alabang campus would the best place to offer an equally superior legal education.

Thus, San Beda College Alabang – School of Law was established in 2005.

From its inception in 2005 until the present time, Dr. Ulpiano P. Sarmiento III has served as the Dean of the School of Law.  In 2009, the School of Law produced its first batch of graduates led by Atty. Rafael Angelo M. Padilla as the class valedictorian. Out of the 14 pioneer graduates, 13 successfully hurdled the bar exams making San Beda College Alabang – School of Law garner the second highest overall passing rate with an average of 92.86%. In the year 2011, the School of Law completed another milestone when it produced its very first Bar topnotcher, Atty. Rodolfo Q. Aquino, who placed tenth (10th) in the 2011 Bar Examinations. Just recently, the School of Law produced another topnotcher, Atty. Dawna Fya O. Bandiola, as she placed fourth (4th) in the 2019 Bar Examinations.

San Beda College Alabang – School of Law continues its pursuit of producing not only intellectual but also upright Bedan lawyers by molding their moral, spiritual, and intellectual values, guided by the Benedictine values of Ora et Labora (Prayer and Work), which exude the everlasting tradition of Bedan Excellence.
