Learning Management System (LMS) Office

The Learning Management System (LMS) Office is one of the two units of the ETS. Its purpose is to provide support to faculty members and students of SBCA for an innovative digital education process. It aims to assist the Bedan community in order for them to maximize the use of the available technological tools and resources and enhance their digital teaching and learning experiences.

BRIEF BACKGROUND

Jul 2020

Educational Technology (EdTech) team was formed. Its function, previously carried out by the Information and Communications Technology Services (ICTS) office, is to roll out the use of the Learning Management System across all the academic departments, as they switch from the old to the new normal in education – virtual or online learning.

A series of orientations and trainings about the OpenLMS (learning management system) and the Blackboard Collaborate (videoconferencing tool for synchronous classes) were given to faculty members, students and even parents (for IBED K-12) across all the academic departments.

Sep 2020

The Education Technology Services (ETS) Office was officially recognized, with Engr. Ma. Lea Martinez as its Administrator. The EdTech team was placed as one of ETS’ units – the Learning Management System (LMS) office. Engr. Dominador G. Zaragosa, Jr. was appointed as its Coordinator.

Turnitin was placed under the management of the ETS-LMS.

Oct 2020

Microsoft Teams was opened as an alternative video conferencing tool. Trainings were given to faculty members and non-academic employees of SBCA.

Nov 2020

Zoom was subscribed to and had replaced Blackboard Collaborate as the official video conferencing tool (for synchronous classes) of the academic departments.
