CAMPUS MINISTRY

Bring the message of hope in the time of pandemic

The Center for Campus Ministry carried on its mission of reaching out to the Bedan community amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ministry utilized modern means of social communication to continue bringing spiritual nourishment, uniting stakeholders in prayer, and promoting Catholic Benedictine values.

Solemnity of St. Benedict

CCM kicked off with the celebration of the Solemnity of St. Benedict of Nursia, live-streamed through the school’s official Facebook page on July 11, 2020. A novena preceded the celebration wherein the Benedictine monks, campus ministers, and Dr. Andres Ignacio C. San Mateo, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs, gave their reflections on the Benedictine Hallmarks.

The 125th Anniversary of the Arrival of Benedictines and the Solemnity of Our Lady of Montserrat

In preparation for AY 2020-2021, CCM facilitated Online Recollections for Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel. Online Peace Retreats, Recollections, and Pilgrimages were likewise made available for students across departments. Through different themes appropriate to their needs, age, and aptitude, the campus ministers accompany students in finding a deeper meaning in life and in praying for the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary

On October 7, 2020, in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, CCM led employees working on-site in praying to beg for God’s abundant blessings, especially for those who are afflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic and other life adversities. They also prayed for all missionaries who labor throughout the world.

St. Bede the Venerable

A votive Mass in honor of St. Bede the Venerable was celebrated via Facebook Live on October 16, 2020, with Rector/President Fr. Gerardo Ma. De Villa, OSB as the main celebrant. The Mass was in thanksgiving for the successful opening of Academic Year 2020-2021 and in celebration of World Teachers’ Day.

New Evangelization

Firm in faith, unwavering in hope, and active in charity, CCM continues to explore new ways of proclaiming the Good News with vigor. The Ministry remains faithful to its commitment to awakening and deepening faith among the Bedan community so “that in all things God may be glorified.”

Evangelizing Mission

In preparation for AY 2020-2021, CCM facilitated Online Recollections for Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel. Online Peace Retreats, Recollections, and Pilgrimages were likewise made available for students across departments. Through different themes appropriate to their needs, age, and aptitude, the campus ministers accompany students in finding a deeper meaning in life and in praying for the grace of the Holy Spirit.

The themes were grounded on Catholic Benedictine values to help inculcate and integrate them into their day-to-day lives. Through Examen or Lectio Divina and other enrichment activities, campus ministers were able to supplement and deepen their understanding and reflection of what it means to be evangelized and be part of an evangelizing community.
