Today, November 9, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica, honoring the β€œMother Church” of all Catholic churches. πŸ™β›ͺ
While St. Peter’s Basilica is world-famous, it’s not the pope’s cathedral. That honor belongs to the Basilica of St. John Lateran in Rome, consecrated on November 9, 324, by Pope Sylvester I. As the oldest and most important church in the Catholic world, it serves as the pope’s official cathedral and spiritual home.
The basilica holds numerous treasures, including a relic believed to be part of a table used by St. Peter during a Eucharistic meal. πŸ•ŠοΈ It also houses the skulls of Saints Peter and Paul, along with the tombs of several popes and saints, making it a living testament to the Church’s early history and tradition.
This feast is celebrated throughout the universal Church as an expression of #communion with the See of Peter.
We ask God today to give us grace to build his Church on earth and reach our ultimate dwelling place in the heavenly Jerusalem.

πŸͺ½PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL

St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou
O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the Divine Power of God,
cast into hell Satan and
all the evil spirits who wander throughout
the world seeking the ruin of souls. πŸ›
AMEN. πŸ™

SATURDAYS WITH MARY πŸ“Ώ
“Holy Mother of God; please listen to our petitions and needs, and deliver us from all dangers, ever glorious and blessed Virgin Mary.
Mary, our model and mother, by your obedience and patience you have taught us how to be true children of God. Please help us by your powerful assistance to overcome all our weaknesses, and to fulfill perfectly our tasks in life.
By your compassionate aid may we ever stand in spirit with you beneath the cross of Christ so that we may also rejoice with you in your divine Son’s triumphant victory over sin and death.
In your maternal kindness help us to be faithful to prayers in the company of God’s Church as you were one with the Apostles in the upper room as you waited for the promised Spirit of Pentecost.
With your gracious assistance may we be near you in the glory of Christ’s kingdom come to sing with you and all the faithful the eternal praise of God. Amen. ” πŸ™πŸ™
