By AJ Stephen P. Rosillo, Alexander Lemuel P. Reboya, and Gian Antonio V. De Luna
As part of their final high school journey, students at SBCA Technical High School engaged in a transformative work immersion program, gaining real-world experience and valuable skills. The Grade 12 students had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the professional environment of Creotec Inc., a highly esteemed, Filipino-owned company under the Electro Manufacturing Services group (EMS).
Creotec Philippines Inc., the training arm of EMS Group of Companies, played a pivotal role in providing students with hands-on experience and exposure to industry best practices. The program aimed to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as they transition into the workforce. During the immersion, students were assigned to various departments based on their specialties, including Information Technology (IT) and Production groups. In the IT group, students worked with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) App Inventor, creating applications such as Body Mass Index (BMI) calculators and Employee Monitoring Boards. The Production group focused on assembling a working burglar alarm, powered by a printed circuit board (PCB) and a light sensor (LDR).
Initially, students faced challenges adjusting to the corporate environment, but they quickly adapted and demonstrated Newsexceptional teamwork and collaboration. Through their dedication and hard work, the students surpassed expectations, achieving a production milestone of 500 units with minimal errors. Reflecting on their experience, students expressed gratitude for
the opportunity to learn and grow in a real-world setting. They highlighted the importance of effective cooperation, teamwork, and adaptability in achieving success in the workplace. The work immersion program at Creotec Inc. has been a valuable learning experience for the students of SBCA Technical High School, providing them with the skills and confidence to succeed in their future careers. The school commended the students for their outstanding performance and thanked Creotec Inc. for their partnership in providing this enriching opportunity.
The success of the work immersion program underscores the importance of hands-on learning and industry exposure in preparing students for the workforce. As these students graduate
and embark on their professional journeys, they carry with them not only the knowledge and skills gained during the program but also the confidence and resilience developed through overcoming
challenges and working as a team.
